GOLF TOURNAMENT
HISTORIQUE

Kitty MICHAEL est une golfeuse née à PORTO RICO qui a proposé de lancer une compétition de golf pour les femmes de 10 clubs du Bassin Caribéen :
Puerto Rico, Jamaïque, Bahamas/Nassau, Bermudas, Curaçao, Trinidad/Tobago, Sainte Croix, Saint Thomas/Saint John, Barbade, Guadeloupe.

Ce projet a vu le jour en 1979. Il a été dénommé « Kitty MICHAEL International Invitational Ladies Golf Tournament ». .

Kitty MICHAEL ayant aménagé aux Etats-Unis, le groupe initial s’est élargi à 16 clubs dont :
• deux du Canada : Summerlea Province du Québec et Toronto
• et 4 représentants les Etats-Unis : Ocean Reef, South East Florida, South West Florida et Baltusrol New Jersey.

Le Kitty MICHAEL International Invitational Ladies Golf Tournament a pour vocation de promouvoir le jeu de golf à travers des compétitions, la bonne entente, l’amitié entre les femmes des pays de la Caraïbe et de l’Amérique du Nord.
Pour assurer une pérennité à ces rencontres et mieux se connaître pour découvrir le charme, les coutumes, l’histoire de nos pays, deux principes fondateurs sont à respecter par chaque pays membres :
• organiser à tour de rôle, dans son club, une édition de ce tournoi,
• présenter, régulièrement, une équipe entre 3 et 10 participantes à chaque tournoi organisé par un pays membre.

C’est ainsi que, depuis plus d’une trentaine d’année, régulièrement des équipes de 10 femmes par pays adhérents, se rencontrent chaque année, pour une semaine sportive, conviviale et festive.

The Kitty Michael International Invitational Golf Tournament

PURPOSE:
The Kitty Michael International Invitational Golf Tournament, herein after referred to as the International Tournament, formed and organized by the Women’s Puerto Rico Golf Association in 1979, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The purpose of this tournament is to promote the game of golf through competition, goodwill and friendship among golfers in and around the Caribbean and North America regions.
Every year there will be a team that will organize the International Tournament, named the host team.

PARTICIPANTS:
Any woman who is at least twenty-one (21) years of age, has an established handicap index of no more than twenty-three (23.0) and belongs to an approved team may participate in the International Tournament.

TEAMS:
A team consists of a maximum of ten (10) members and a minimum of three (3) members.

FORMAT:
The International Tournament’s format will be a fifty-four (54) hole stroke play tournament. There will be one (1) practice round and three (3) days of play.
